FIVE members of a family on Friday were injured when an e-bike charged and left unattended started a fire in Sta. Rosa City, Laguna.
Laguna OIC provincial director Col. Gauvin Mel Unos identified the victims as Shirley, 65; Joseph, 29; Angelo, 13; Jomart, 12; and Archie, 11, all surnamed Rodriguez.
The five were brought to the Sta. Rosa Community Hospital for treatment of burnt wounds.
Investigation showed the fire started in the house of Roby Montenegro at Chicharunan Compound in Lucerto St., Bgy. Kanluran, Sta. Rosa City.
Montenegro reportedly charged his e-bike and left it unattended at 11:30 a.m. on Friday.
When he returned, the e-bike was already on fire.
The blaze immediately spread and engulfed the entire house and the adjacent houses owned by Orlando Villandrez Alojado, 61, and Misael Lungay Requierme, 57.
Three vehicles were also destroyed by the blazed.
The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) declared a fire out at 2:30 a.m. Saturday.
