THE blessing of the Black Nazarene replicas will be held on January 2 in Quiapo, Manila, the organizer of the annual feast of Jesus Nazareno on Wednesday announced.
Silgen Cabrito of the Social Communications Department of Quiapo Church said the blessing will be conducted at the footbridge near the Minor Basilica of the Black Nazarene on Quezon Blvd. in Manila at 1:30 p.m. Thursday.
“Good afternoon, tomorrow, January 2, 2025 the Blessing of the replica images of the Lord Jesus Nazareno and estandarte will be held at 1:30 pm,” he said.
Cabrito said a Novena Mass will be held at the Minor Basilica at 12:15 p.m. of the same day.
The Mass will be officiated by Papal Nuncio to the Philippines Archbishop Charles Brown.
The blessing of the replicas and estandarte is part of the celebration of the Black Nazarene’s feast on January 9.
Days before the “Traslacion,” the replicas will have their own procession, according to the organizer.
The “Traslacion” or the procession of the image from the Quirino Grandstand in Luneta to the Quiapo Church is the highlight of the annual religious event.
Last year, close to 500 replicas and standartes participated in the blessing activity.
