DOMESTIC workers or the “kasambahays” in Calabarzon are set to receive higher take-home pay beginning March 7.
This after the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board IV-A (RTWPB IV-A) has approved their wage increase.
The Wage Board has granted an increase ranging from 750 to P1,750 in the salary of domestic workers in the region.
The Board approved the measure on Feb. 10, which sets the new minimum wage rate of such workers at P6,750.
Based on Wage Order No. RB-IVA-DW-05, domestic workers in cities and first-class municipalities will get a P750 pay increase while those in other municipalities in the region will get an additional P1,750 in their salaries.
Covered by the increase are all domestic workers, whether on a live-in or live-out arrangement, such as but not limited to: general househelp, yaya, cook, gardener, laundry person and any person who regularly performs work occasionally or sporadically and not on an occupational basis.
Meanwhile, not covered by the increase are service providers, family drivers and any other person who performs work occasionally and not on an occupational basis.
