THOUSANDS of devout Catholics join the traditional “Salubong” of Jesus Christ and Mama Mary in front of the General Trias City Hall in General Trias City, Cavite. “Salubong” is a Filipino religious tradition celebrated on Easter Sunday, reenacting the meeting between the Risen Christ and his grieving Mother, Mary. It’s a symbolic encounter, often held in a pre-dawn procession with two separate groups carrying the statues of Christ and Mary.
