TWO police officers on Wednesday night were killed after being struck by lightning in Naujan, Oriental Mindoro.
The Police Regional Office 4-B (PRO4-B) identified the victims as Pat. Laudelino Lomio, 31; and Pat. Ruzzel Jay Fontarum, 28, both members of the Regional Mobile Force Battalion 4-B (RMFB4-B).
The victims were immediately brought to the Mindoro Medical Center in Calapan City, but were pronounced dead on arrival.
An investigation showed that the two policemen were parking their motorcycles in the middle of a heavy rain at the parking area of the RMFB4-B headquarters in Naujan when a series of lightning struck and hit them at 10:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
The PRO4-B said Thursday that full assistance will be extended to the families of the two police officers.
