ALL of the country’s administrative regions will have at least two Philippine Science High School (PSHS) campuses, Senator Win Gatchalian said.
The Senate ratified the Bicameral Conference Committee report on the Expanded Philippine Science High School System (PSHS) System Act (Senate Bill No. 2974 and House Bill No. 9726), which establishes the PSHS System under the administrative supervision of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST).
While the ratified measure provides that each administrative region in the country shall have at least two PSHS campuses, these campuses in the same region shall not be situated in the same province or the same city in the case of the National Capital Region (NCR).
“Sa pagtatatag natin ng mga Philippine Science High School campuses sa bawat rehiyon sa bansa, maihahatid natin sa mas maraming mga kabataan ang pagkakataong makatanggap ng dekalidad na edukasyon sa science, technology, engineering, at mathematics. Mahalaga ito dahil magsisilbi itong pundasyon sa pagsulong ng inobasyon sa ating bansa,” said Gatchalian, co-author and co-sponsor of the ratified measure.
To date, there are 16 PSHS campuses nationwide.
