SOME P8 million worth of counterfeit baby powder and body cleanser products were seized by agents of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) in a raid in Pasay City.
NBI Director Jaime Santiago on Wednesday said operatives from the NBI-National Capital Region (NBI-NCR) and the Intellectual Property Rights Division (IPRD) implemented two search warrants against the subject establishment last July 3 for violation of Republic Act 8293 or the Intellectual Property Code of the Philippines.
The operation resulted in the discovery and confiscation of a total of 9,093 pieces of various counterfeit products bearing the trademarks “Johnson’s,” “Johnson’s Baby,” “Aveeno,” “Cetaphil” and “Cetaphil Gentle Clear.”
Johnson’s and Aveeno are registered trademarks of Kenvue Inc., while Cetaphil is a registered trademark of Galderma Holdings SA.
The raid was conducted based on a complaint filed by Orion Support Inc., representing Kenvue Inc., and Galderma Holdings.
Santiago lauded his men for successfully implementing the search warrants and their law enforcement actions to stop the proliferation and distribution of counterfeit products.
The NBI reminds the public to refrain from patronizing pirated products to give protection to the intellectual property rights owners and enhance our economic growth.
