WHISTLEBLOWER, VICTIMS’ FAMILIES FILE ADMINISTRATIVE RAPS  VS COPS LINKED T0 LOST ‘SABUNGEROS’

WHISTLEBLOWER Julie “Dondon” Patidongan alias “Totoy” and the families of the victims on Monday, July 14, filed administrative complaints against 12 police officers allegedly involved in the disappearance of dozens of cockfighting enthusiasts.

The complaint was lodged before the National Police Commission’s  Inspection, Monitoring, and Investigation Service (Napolcom-IMIS).

Among those named in the complaint were a police colonel, a police lieutenant colonel, a police major, an executive master sergeant, a master sergeant, a senior master sergeant, a senior staff sergeant, two chief master sergeants, and a corporal.

Patidongan, in a press conference at the Napolcom office in Quezon City, said  the police officers were the ones who took the “sabungeros” from the farm and brought them to Taal Lake.

The suspect-turned-witness alleged that the police officers were paid to abduct the “sabungeros.“

Patidongan also linked the police officers to the bloody war on drugs of the previous administration.

The whistleblower said around 30 more inactive cops were involved in the disappearance of the cockfight afficionados.

Napolcom vice chairperson and executive officer Rafael Vicente Calinisan said the 12 police officers may face administrative charges for grave misconduct and conduct unbecoming of a police officer.

“Ang penalties noon ang pinakamababa ay suspension, ang gitnang penalty ay demotion, ang pinakamabigat na penalty doon ay  dismissal from the service,” Calinisan said.

Meanwhile, the Philippine National Police (PNP) on Monday confirmed that some of the bones recovered by Coast Guard divers at the Taal Lake were from human body.

Since last Friday, five sacks containing suspicious objects were recovered from the lake by Coast Guard divers.

The search is being conducted amid claims by Patidongan that more than 100 people were killed and dumped in the lake after being accused of match fixing and double-crossing.
