MABALACAT CITY, Pampanga — Two Korean nationals and a Filipino driver on Thursday were arrested for alleged extort try and possession of illegal drugs in an entrapment operation inside a resturant at the Clark Freeport Zone.
Mabalacat City police chief Lt. Col. Efren David reported to Police Regional Office 3 (PRO3) director Brig. Gen. Ponce Rogelio Penones Jr, that arrested were alias “Jo,” 32, an investor; alias “Kim,” 37, a businessman, both Korean nationals; and alias “Atao,” 37, a Filipino driver, all residents of Angeles City, Pampanga.
David said that the operation stemmed from a complaint filed by Korean with the name Leo, 31.
Leo told the Mabalacat police that the suspects were threatening him and demanding P4.4 million in exchange for his safety.
Acting on the complaint, operatives of the Mabalacat City police’s Intelligence Section and Drug Enforcement Unit launched a sting at ON Café and Restaurant.
Seized from the suspects were around 50 grams of shabu worth P340,000; 53 grams of cocaine valued at P265,000; 50 tablets of ecstasy worth P85,000; and three vape cartridges containing marijuana valued at P13,500.
Also confiscated were a cal..40 Glock 22 Gen 4 pistol with three magazines and 33 rounds of live ammunition, five smartphones, various identification cards, other personal items, and the boodle money.
David said the arrested suspects and the confiscated evidence were brought to the Mabalacat Police Station for proper disposition and filing of appropriate charges.
