TWO “high-value individuals” (HVIs) on Friday were arrested while more than P1.8 million worth of suspected shabu was seized in an operation in General Santos City.
Arrested were “high-value individual” alias “Dats,” 34, a resident of Cotabato City, and his alleged cohort “Oding,” of Bgy. Tambler.
Operatives of the Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit 12 (RPDEU12), together with RID12, RIU12, PDEG SOU12, and Police Station 5 of the General Santos City Police Office, conducted the sting around 11:51 p.m. on Friday at a waiting shed beside Jobwell Marine Engineering Services on the National Highway in Purok Ngilay, Bgy. Tambler.
The buy-bust operation was conducted in coordination with PDEA Region 12.
Seized were a total of approximately 275 grams of suspected shabu worth around P1,870,000.
Also confiscated were the buy-bust money amounting to P25,000, consisting of one genuine P1,000 bill and 24 marked bills, along with a weighing scale, mobile phone, plastic sachets, and other drug paraphernalia.
Inventory and marking of evidence were conducted on-site in the presence of the suspects, media representative, and barangay officials, in accordance with standard procedures.
The confiscated items were turned over to the Regional Forensic Unit 12 for examination.
The arrested suspects are currently under the custody of Police Station 5, General Santos City Police Office, while appropriate charges for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 are being prepared for filing in court.
PRO12 Director Brig. Gen. Arnold P. Ardiente, commended the operating units and reiterated the region’s intensified campaign against illegal drugs.
“Our alternative policing approach ensures that operations are intelligence-driven, lawful, and focused on dismantling drug networks at all levels. This successful operation reflects our firm commitment to protect communities and sustain peace and order in Region 12,” Ardiente said.
The official added that PRO12 will continue to strengthen coordination with partner agencies and the community to effectively combat illegal drugs and other criminal activities in the region.
