SAN ILDEFONSO, Bulacan – Police are hunting down the motorcycle-riding ‘basag-kotse’ members that hit the car of a couple parked in front of a café in Bgy. Malipampang, this town.
In a report to Police Regional Office 3 (PRO3) director Brig. Gen. Jess Mendez, the victims were identified as Gerald James delos Reyes, 33, a real estate broker; and his wife Katherine, 30, a bank teller, both residents of Pasig City.
According to the San Ildefonso police, the theft occurred at the parking area of 1021 Café OPC on Cagayan Valley Road.
Initial investigation revealed that the couple parked their red MG ZS SUV before entering the café. When they returned after a few minutes, they discovered that the right-side passenger window of their vehicle had been smashed.
A closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage obtained from the barangay showed four unidentified suspects were involved in the crime.
The suspects, riding in pairs on two motorcycles—a Honda Beat and a Mio Gear—were seen breaking the vehicle’s window and taking a red bag from inside.
The stolen bag reportedly contained government-issued identification cards, a Philippine passport, a Landbank ATM card, and medicines.
The suspects, all wearing half-face helmets and different colored upper garments, fled the scene heading northbound toward San Miguel, Bulacan.
San Ildefonso police chief Lt. Col. Gilmore A. Wasin, immediately responded to the incident and conducted an on-site investigation.
Police are currently carrying out follow-up operations, including reviewing additional CCTV footage and tracking possible witnesses, in an effort to identify and apprehend the suspects.
