A 15-YEAR-OLD student on Monday was injured after allegedly being stabbed by a 14-year-old schoolmate inside a public school in Dasmariñas City, Cavite.
The victim was identified as “Glen,” a 15-year-old Grade 8 transferee and a resident of Bgy. Sampaloc 4, Dasmariñas City.
The suspect named “Renz,” 14, is also a Grade 8 student.
Both the victim and the suspect are studying at the Dasmarinas East Integrated High School (DEIHS) in Bgy. San Simon in Dasmariñas City.
Initial investigations showed the conflict between the two began on July 9 but remained unresolved.
Around 2:15 p.m. on July 13, during break time, the victim allegedly approached the suspect but the latter suddenly pulled out a bladed weapon and stabbed the victim in the back.
Some of the classmates tried to pacify the young suspect while the others sought the help of their teachers.
The wounded victim was rushed to the Pagamutan ng Dasmariñas for treatment. He is now in a stable condition according to authorities.
The minor suspect classified as a “Child at Risk” (CAR) will undergo an intervention program under the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO).
Police investigation is ongoing, including interviews with witnesses, to determine the root cause of the quarrel and the motive for the stabbing.
Authorities reminded parents and schools to immediately address conflicts between students to prevent situations from escalating into violence.
The DEIHS school administration said a thorough investigation is currently underway regarding the incident.
It is also coordinating with the appropriate authorities to ensure a fair and orderly probe.
The school emphasized that the safety, security, and well-being of students and staff members remain its top priority.
It added that measures to maintain a safe and orderly school environment are being reinforced and strictly implemented.
The DEIHS school administration urged the public to refrain from spreading unverified information to avoid confusion and speculation while investigation is ongoing.
