THE Land Transportation Office (LTO) has suspended for 90-days the driver’s license of former child actor Niño Muhlach whose car swerved to the other lane before it plowed three establishments and a parked motorcycle leaving a man injured in an accident on Marcos Highway in Antipolo City, Rizal on Aug. 23.
LTO chief Markus Lacanilao said the actor was also directed to appear before the agency’s Intelligence and Investigation Division (IID) on August 28 where he will be asked to submit a sworn affidavit about the incident as part of the process.
The actor’s vehicle will be placed under an alarm status pending investigation.
Muhlach has admitted to have fallen asleep while on the steering wheel due to exhaustion.
The LTO said the actor will be asked to explain why he should not be cited for reckless driving and improper person to operate a motor vehicle.
“Bago pa man paandarin ang sasakyan, dapat alam na ng driver kung kaya niyang manatiling alerto hanggang sa makarating sa kaniyang destinasyon. Kung pagod o inaantok, huwag nang ipilit ang pagmamaneho dahil inilalagay lamang niya sa panganib ang kaniyang sarili, pati na rin ang ibang motorista at mga taong nasa paligid,” the LTO chief said.
