A FEMALE cop on Tuesday was arrested for allegedly shooting her husband, also a policeman, dead in their home in Angeles City, Pampanga.
Angeles City acting police director Col. Joselito Villarosa reported to Police Regional Office 3 director Brig. Gen. Jean Fajardo that the victim was PCMS Jayson Mariano, assigned at the Angeles City :Police Station.
Mariano succumbed to a gunshot wound in the head.
The suspect was Mariano’s wife, also a cop, detailed at the Regional Field Unit 3 (RFU 3).
The killing occurred in the Marianos’ house in Bgy. Cuayan, Angeles City.
An investigation showed the victim was parking a motorcycle in his home’s garage when a gunshot was heard.
A neighbor, who heard the gun burst, immediately went outside to check and saw the victim lying and bloodied. Beside the victim was the gun used in the killing.
The neighbor returned to his house to get his cellphone and called the police. He again went outside and saw Mariano’s cop-wife picking the gun.
PSMS Zenaida Maraña, Station Executive Senior Police Officer (SESPO) of the Police Station 5 and also a neighbor of the Marianos, rushed to the victim’s house and recovered from the suspect the gun used in the shooting.
Responding lawmen arrested Mariano’s wife while the seized gun was turned over to the authorities.
Mariano was brought by personnel of the Angeles City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (ACDRRMO) to the PRI Hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival.
Police conducted a verification and found out that the confiscated gun is the issued service firearm of the suspect.
The victim’s cop-wife is in the custody of the Angeles City Police Office facing parricide charges.
Investigation into the motive for the killing Is ongoing.
