BURGLARS HIT CHURCH IN BULACAN

SAN MIGUEL, Bulacan  —  Thieves attacked the Parokya ni San Miguel Arcangel Church in Bgy. Poblacion, this town and stole religious artifacts and at least P10,000  in cash.

A report to Police Regional Office 3 (PRO3) director Brig. Gen. Jess Mendez by the San Miguel police showed the  incident is believed to have occurred on March 27 but was only discovered on April 4. 

Reverend Avelino Sampana, 73, parish priest and a resident of the area,  said several accessories belonging to the image of San Miguel Arcangel were missing, including  the wings, sword, shield, and a spear (sibat), as well as cash donations amounting to at least P10,000.

Authorities said the total estimated value of the stolen items reached around P255,000.

The burglary was discovered by a witness, Erizz Kevin Martin, who immediately alerted authorities upon noticing the missing items.

Responding personnel from the San Miguel Municipal Police Station launched a backtracking of closed-circuit television footage in and around the vicinity to identify possible suspects.

Police urged the public to report any information that may help in the investigation and the recovery of the stolen religious items.
