A TWO-YEAR-OLD boy playing near an irrigation canal on Friday drowned in Candaba, Pampanga.
The child was a resident of Sitio 6 in Bgy. Dulong Ilog, Candaba.
In a report to Police Regional Office 3 director Brig. Gen. Jose Hidalgo Jr., the Candaba police said they were told that the victim was seen playing near the irrigation canal, with an estimated water level of 4 to 5 feet.
Moments later, the tot went missing.
Responding personnel of the Candaba Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (MDRRMO) immediately conducted a search and retrieval operation.
They were able to recover the body of the victim and rushed him to the Saint Pio Medical Hospital in Bgy. Bahay Pare but was declared dead upon arrival.
Authorities theorized the child accidentally fell to the canal while playing and drowned.
