AN 84-YEAR-OLD woman, her 21-year-old granddaughter, and around 10 dogs and cats on Monday afternoon died in a fire that razed a two-storey house in Caloocan City.
Nine others were injured.
A report from the Bureau of Fire Protection indicated that the fire started at 12:47 p.m. Monday on the second floor of a house in Marcela St Bgy. 27, Maypajo, Caloocan City.
Epimaco Benito, the father of the 21-year-old girl who was a graduating student, said prior to the fire, they saw thick smoke coming from the ground floor of the house.
He said his daughter tried to rescue her grandmother but were suffocated to death.
Arson investigators are investigating if the fire was caused by faulty electrical wiring.
