POLICE on Monday arrested in Dipolog City, Zamboanga del Norte the alleged gunman in the killing of a radioman in Misamis Occidental last year.
Nabbed was Julito Mangompit, the Top 1 Regional Level Most Wanted Person in Western Mindanao.
PNP spokesperson Col. Jean S. Fajardo said that with the capture of Mangompit, all three suspects in the murder of Juan “DJ Johnny Walker” Jumalon have already been accounted for by the police force.
Two other suspects she identified as Ricky and Buboy Bongcawil, both 39-years-old, were arrested by members of the Misamis Occidental Police Provincial Office headed by Col. Dwight Monato last March 16.
Monato said the two acted as “back-up and driver” of the getaway motorcycle used during the attack.
The PNP spokesperson described the three as members of a gun-for-hire ring operating in the province.
“We are looking on the real mastermind and the motive behind the killing and how much was paid to the killers. Police are not discounting the possibility the Jumalon murder case was ‘work-related,” Fajardo said.
Jumalon was doing a live broadcast inside the 94.7 Gold FM community radio station in Calamba town in Misamis Occidental when gunned down on Nov. 5, 2023.
