THREE persons, including two candidates for village council, were shot dead while installing campaign posters in Cotabato City Monday night, October 23.
Slain were Nur-Moqtadin K. Butucan, a candidate for village council in Bgy. Rosary Heights (RH) 12; Alfar Singh Ayunan Pasawilan, a candidate for village councilman in Bgy. Kalanganan 2; and supporter Faizal Abas, also of Bgy. Kalanganan 2.
City police spokesperson Lt. Col. Carmelo Mungkas said two others, Saipul Sapalon and Fajeed Daud, both of Bgy. Kalanganan 2, were injured.
An investigation showed the victims were putting tarpaulin and other propaganda materials in Bgy. Rosary Heights 12 in Cotabato City when fired upon by gunmen at about 9 p.m. Monday.
At least 12 persons were invited for questioning at the city’s Police Station 1 following the shooting.
Recovered at the crime scene were one M16 rifle, one cal. .45 pistol, and a 9mm handgun.
An investigation is underway.
