A NINE-YEAR-OLD boy on Friday night was killed while more than 20 people were injured when a passenger bus went wayward and struck at least 10 vehicles in Alfonso, Cavite.
Three of the victims – the drivers of the car and van and a passenger — are in serious condition at the hospital.
The incident occurred in Mangas-Luksuhin Road, Bgy. Luksuhin Ibaba, this municipality.
Alfonso police chief Maj. Raymond T. Balbuena said prior to the freak accident, the Cavite Batangas Transport Service Cooperative passenger bus driven by Gilbert Sepida dropped off a passenger at Alfonso crossing at around 9 p.m. on Friday.
The bus was traveling the downhill part of Bgy. Luksuhin Ibaba when it had a brake malfunction and careened uncontrollably, hitting several vehicles in the area, including the Mitsubishi Xpander carrying the nine-year-old boy and his parents.
One of the child’s parents is reportedy in serious condition.
Rescuers arrived and rushed the victims to the nearest hospital for treatment.
Police said the driver of the bus is facing charges for reckless imprudence resulting in multiple serious physical injuries and multiple damage to properties.
