A MALE teenager on Sunday drowned while catching rats in an irrigation canal in Bgy. Narvacan 1, Guimba, Nueva Ecija.
In a report to Police Regional Office 3 director Brig. Gen. Jose Hidalgo Jr., the Nueva Ecija police identified the victim as Lynger Linsangan, a resident of Purok Sampaguita, Bgy. Pacac, Guimba.
Rolan Magbitang, a farmer, told police that prior to the drowning, he saw the boy catching rats in the canal.
Moments later, he saw the victim submerged in the irrigation canal. He immediately sought help to rescue the boy.
The victim was rushed to the Guimba District Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
