THERE is no place in Mabalacat City for illegal Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGOs).
Mayor Crisostomo Garbo of Mabalacat City, Pampanga issued the warning following a recent raid in an illegal POGO hub in a neighboring town.
The mayor directed the local police, city hall inspectors, and barangay officials to intensify efforts in ensuring that no buildings, facilities and establishments with suspicious activities operate within the city.
The mayor reiterated the importance of careful scrutiny when issuing permits to businesses, particularly those in sensitive industries.
He stressed the need for continuous monitoring of establishments to prevent illegal activities like POGO from taking root in Mabalacat City.
“The events in the neighboring town serve as a stark reminder of the dangers posed by illicit activities such as illegal online operations,” Garbo said.
“We must remain vigilant and proactive in safeguarding our community from such threats,” he added.
The Mabalacat mayor also highlighted the significance of community cooperation in combating illegal schemes.
He urged residents to immediately report to the authorities any establishments with suspicious activities.
“We cannot combat these threats alone. The cooperation of our kababayans is crucial in our efforts to maintain peace and safety in Mabalacat City,” said Garbo
“By working together, we can ensure that our city remains free from illegal activities and preserves the well-being of our Kabalens,” the mayor added.
