DRINKING in public places is now prohibited in the province of Cavite.
The Sangguniang Panlalawigan led by presiding officer Vice Governor Athena Tolentino passed Provincial Ordinance 443-2024 or “An Ordinance Prohibiting the Consumption of Beer, Liquor and Alcoholic Beverages in Public Places within the Province of Cavite and Imposing Penalties for Violations Thereof.
The ordinance was authored by 2nd district Board member Ramon Bautista, chairman of the Committee on Peace, Public Order and Safety.
Under the mandate, consumption of beer, liquor, and any alcoholic beverages is prohibited in public areas in Cavite such as parks, picnic areas, playgrounds, sports fields/courts, bike paths, streets, sidewalks, and public transportation vehicles.
Whoever is caught violating the ordinance will pay P1,000 for the first offense, P2,500 for the second offense and P5,000 for the third offense or six months imprisonment.
The directive aims to prevent accidents or disasters caused by drinking alcohol.
