NINE policemen, including a police chief, were relieved from their posts in connection with the killing of a drug suspect at the boundary of Tiaong, Quezon and San Juan, Batangas on May 28.
San Juan police chief Lt. Col. Jesus Lintag and his men were reassigned at the Provincial Personnel Holding Center.
Named officer-in-charge of the San Juan Police Station is Lt. Col. Rommel Sobrido.
Police Regional Office 4A (Calabarzon) Director Brig. Gen. Paul Kenneth Lucas has ordered the creation of a special investigation team to determine if the police officers violated the standard operating procedure and if there were irregularities in the performance of their duties.
Bryan Laresma alias “Balot” was killed in an alleged shootout with San Juan policemen in the boundary of Tiaong and San Juan.
Two sachets of shabu, a cal..38 revolver and the P500 buy-bust money were recovered at the alleged clash site.
Laresma’s relatives sought the help of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) for a re-autopsy of the suspect.
The family also asked the Commission on Human Rights (CHR) and House of Representatives to conduct parallel investigations.
Laresma’s brother, Adrian, said Bryan was about to alight from his motorcycle when shot.
Meanwhile, Lintag said they are open to any investigation, adding that the operation was legitimate.
