CAMP OLIVAS, City of San Fernando, Pampanga – A total of 37 loose firearms were confiscated during the five-day operation by the police from October 1 to 5 in various provinces in Central Luzon, Police Regional Office 3 director Brig. Gen. Redrico Maranan said.
Following his assumption in office, Maranan has ordered his men to enforce stricter measures against loose guns in the region.
Under Maranan’s directive, police units across the region were mobilized for simultaneous operations, aimed at curbing illegal firearm possession and strengthening security measures, particularly in the lead-up to the 2025 national and local elections.
Joint personnel from the 303rd Mobile Company, Regional Mobile Force Battalion3, and the Gapan City Police Station arrested a farmer who was found in possession of an unlicensed cal. .45 pistol with magazine containing four live bullets.
The suspect was nabbed while trying to flee at a checkpoint in Bgy. Pambuan, Gapan City.
The Central Luzon top cop commended the efforts of the police personnel involved in the operation as he underscored the importance of continuing the campaign.
“The operation demonstrates our commitment to ensuring the safety and security of our communities. Through the ‘Makabagong Pulis sa Makabagong Panahon’ initiative, we will remain pro-active in addressing public safety concerns, especially as the election season approaches,” Maranan said.
He also emphasized the importance of public cooperation, urging residents to report to the authorities any illegal firearms in their areas.
“Our continued success in confiscating loose firearms is a testament to our dedication to public safety. We will not rest until the threat posed by illegal guns is completely eliminated,” he said.
