POLICE on Monday arrested a Chinese national for illegal possession of a hand grenade and assorted bullets in Angeles City, Pampanga.
In a report to Police Regional Office 3 director Brig. Gen. Redrico Maranan, Angeles City police director Col. Amado Mendoza Jr. identified the suspect as Xiao Zhao Zhou, 42, a Chinese national residing at the Manila Daily Rental House in Manila,.
The suspect was caught near Fusion gasoline station on Don Juico Avenue in Bgy. Pulung Maragul, Angeles City.
Investigation showed that businesswoman Neslie Rivera, 35, of Bgy. Pandacaqui Resettlement, Mexico, Pampanga, told police that her vehicle, a white Toyota Fortuner with plate number CAJ 9840, was rented by Zhang Shuiping for one month.
After the agreement expired, Rivera called the renter but there were no response from him for five days, prompting her to locate the vehicle through GPS and found it at the place of arrest.
Rivera sought police’ help.
Acting on the report, police officers went to the area and as they approached the suspect, who got angry and hysterical.
During investigation, officers saw on the passenger seat of the vehicle a hand grenade and assorted bullets.
The find prompted the police to arrest the suspect.
Charges for violation of Republic Act 9516 or illegal possession of explosive and ammunition were filed against the arrested Chinese man.
