OPERATIVES of the National Bureau of Investigation – Dangerous Drugs Division (NBI-DDD) arrested a Chinese national for alleged illegal practice of medicine in Parañaque City.
NBI Director Jaime B. Santiago identified the arrested suspect as Zhou Jiequin.
The arrest stemmed from an information regarding the illegal practice of medicine in a clinic in the city.
According to an informant, she was able to get a slot for a face water injection/skin booster procedure in a clinic at Monarch Parksuites, Aseana Business Park, Bradco Avenue, Parañaque City.
The informant added that the procedure is worth P20,000 for the first session.
Agents of the NBI-DDD immediately conducted an entrapment operation.
Before the procedure was about to start, the poseur-patient gave the pre-arranged signal to the NBI agents waiting in the vicinity.
The NBI operatives forced opened the door as the clinic occupants refused to open the clinic’s door.
The NBI agents asked Zhou who was the owner of the clinic and if he has license to practice medicine but the Chinese national failed to present any, resulting to his arrest.
One of the subjects of the operation identified as Liza He Fheng was able to escape through the backdoor.
Zhou was presented for inquest proceedings before the Office of the Prosecutor, Parañaque City for violation of Republic Act 2382 or the The Medical Act of 1959.
Santiago lauded the agents of the NBI-DDD for the successful apprehension as he warned the public to refrain from undergoing medical procedures from individuals who are not licensed and/or authorized to perform such processes.
