FIVE people, including a baby and two other minors, were killed in a fire that hit a residential area in Pasig City on Wednesday night.
The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) said among the fatalities were a 39-year-old woman, her 11-year-old daughter and one-year-old baby; their neighbor said to be a government employee, and his 15-year-old son.
The bodies of the victims were retrieved by arson probers from the debris Thursday.
An investigation showed the fire started at a four-storey house on E. Mendoza St. in Bgy. Buting, Pasig City at 10:56 p.m. on Wednesday.
The BFP declared fire out at 11:58 p.m. of the same day.
Probers said the fire destroyed five houses and displaced 18 families or a total of 89 people who are now temporarily staying in evacuation centers.
Damage to property was estimated at P600,000.
Arson investigators have yet to determine what caused the fire.
