SOME areas have declared suspension of classes on Monday, January 5, 2026, due to bad weather.
The declaration was after the Philippine Atmospheric Geopbysical and Astronomical Services (PAGASA) warmed of heavy rains brought by the shear line, which may persist until Monday.
PAGASA said rainfall could be higher in mountainous and elevated areas and impacts may be worsened by earlier rains.
Among the areas that declared suspension of classes include Caramoan in Camarines Sur in Bicol region (all levels, public and private).
In Eastern Visayas, class suspensions were also declared in Culaba in Biliran; San Policarpio in Eastern Samar; Carigara, Dulag, Palo, San Miguel, Tabontabon and Tacloban in Leyte; Northern Samar; and Basey, Catbalogan, Daram, Jiabong and Zumarraga all in Samar.
In the Negros Island Region, the areas of Bindoy and Manjuyod also declared suspension of classes due to inclement weather.
