AS part of the government’s continuing efforts to assist Filipinos affected by tensions in the Middle East, the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW), together with the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), on Thursday welcomed 317 Filipinos who safely returned to the country aboard the third government-chartered flight.
The chartered plane landed at Villamor Air Base in Pasay City, carrying 153 overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) with their 114 dependents and 50 stranded Filipino passengers who opted to return home amid the ongoing tension.
In a post, the DMW said the repatriation is in line with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s directive to ensure the safety and welfare of Filipinos in the Middle East.
As of March 5, the DMW reported that more than 1,700 OFWs and their dependents have already returned to the country under the whole-of-government repatriation effort.
