THE Department of Health (DOH) on Saturday said there is no case of Ebola in the Philippines.
The DOH issued the statement amid recent outbreaks of Ebola in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Uganda.
“To be very clear, wala po tayong kaso ng Ebola sa Pilipinas,” DOH spokesperson Undersecretary Albert Domingo said in an interview on Dobol B TV.
Domingo said there is no need for Filipinos to panic regarding Ebola.
According to the health official, the World Health Organization (WHO) has not recommended a travel ban; hence, the country will not implement one.
However, he said the Bureau of Quarantine will implement strict screening of passengers with history of travel to the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Uganda.
Domingo explained that the Ebola virus is not airborne. He said it is not like COVID-19.
According to Domingo, the way of Ebola transmission is through body fluids.
He said symptoms of Ebola disease are first dry such as headache, fever, and body pains. Then the wet symptoms follow, such as diarrhea, vomiting, and nausea.
The health official advised the public to build up their immunity to avoid contracting diseases.
“Tamang pagkain, ehersisyo, at disiplina sa katawan. Ang panlaban natin sa anumang virus o bacteria ay ang ating immune system,” Domingo said.
