THE Philippine National Police (PNP) recognized the swift response of police personnel that led to the arrest of five suspected members of the “Gapos Gang” following a robbery incident in Bgy. Concepcion Dos, Marikina City, early morning of July 13, 2026.
The operation conducted by the Eastern Police District (EPD), through the Marikina City Police Station, resulted in the immediate capture of five suspects and the recovery of suspected stolen properties, firearms, ammunition, and other items believed to have been used during the incident.
Initial investigation showed that the suspects allegedly entered a residence while presenting themselves as police personnel and showed documents they claimed were related to a law enforcement operation. The occupants were reportedly restrained while the suspects took valuables from the residence.
The situation was quickly addressed after one of the occupants was able to send a distress message for police assistance.
Responding lawmen immediately proceeded to the area, secured the victims, and apprehended the suspects inside the vicinity.
Recovered were electronic devices, a wristwatch, a 9mm pistol with magazines and ammunition, improvised firearms, mobile phones, masks, restraints, and copies of documents believed to have been used to support their alleged impersonation of authorities.
The arrested suspects, identified only through their aliases “Ahorn,” “Don-Don,” “Oryong,” “Ric,” and “Beshir,” are now under police custody and undergoing proper legal procedures.
Philippine National Police chief Gen. Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., lauded the immediate response of police personnel, emphasizing the importance of readiness, coordination, and public cooperation in addressing threats to peace and security.
