GUNS, GRENADE SEIZED AS PRO3 LAUNCHES OPERATIONS VS ZAMBALES ROB GROUP

CAMP OLIVAS, City of San Fernando Pampanga –Operatives of the Police Regional Office 3 on Saturday seized seven firearms, a hand grenade, assorted ammunition and suspected illegal drugs in three separate operations in Zambales.

The operations were part of efforts to dismantle a robbery group operating in the province.

According to PRO3, two search warrant operations conducted in San Antonio resulted in the recovery of six firearms, one hand grenade and assorted ammunition from individuals allegedly linked to a robbery group.

In a separate buy-bust operation in Cabangan, police arrested a suspect and confiscated 1.61 grams of suspected shabu, 30.1 grams of suspected marijuana and a cal. .38 revolver.

Police said the operations were conducted based on intelligence informations gathered regarding the activities and possible firearms possession of individuals allegedly connected to the robbery group.

PRO3 director Brig. Gen. Jess Mendez said the confiscations demonstrated the importance of sustained intelligence gathering and coordination among police units in preventing criminal groups from carrying out their activities.

“Our objective is to disrupt the capability of criminal groups before they can victimize more people. We will continue intelligence-driven operations to keep our communities safe,” Mendez said.

The recovered firearms and ammunition will undergo appropriate documentation and examination, while the suspected illegal drugs will be subjected to laboratory examination.

Charges for violations of the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act and the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 were filed against the arrested suspects.

Mendez said the operations form part of its continuing campaign against criminals, illegal drugs and loose firearms in Central Luzon.

The regional police office said the operations also support the PNP Focused Agenda of PNP chief Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr., particularly the intensified drive against criminal groups, illegal drugs and unlicensed or illegally possessed firearms.
