COPS ARREST 6 MEN FOR STEALING TELCO CELL SITE BATTERIES IN BATAAN

POLICE arrested six men for allegedly stealing industrial batteries worth P117,000 from a telecommunications cellsite in Bgy. Lamao, Limay, Bataan.

A report to Police Regional Office 3 (PRO3) director Brig. Gen. Jess Mendez by the Limay Municipal Police Station showed the theft occurred on Tuesday inside the Globe Telecom Cellsite Compound in Carbonsite, Bgy. Lamao.

A roving security guard employed by MEISCOR Infrastructure Development Corporation (MIDC), which maintains the facility, reportedly caught the suspects carrying industrial batteries out of the compound toward a nearby residential area. 

The security guard immediately called the police.

Responding lawmen arrested the suspects identified only through their aliases “Dante,” 25; “Marky,” 23 “Rick,” 21; “Bino,” 21; “Mel,” 19; and “Ruel,” 18;, all residents of Limay, Bataan.

Seized from the suspects were 13 industrial batteries.

An investigation revealed that the suspects gained entry into the cellsite by forcibly opening the locks of the facility door. Once inside, the suspects also destroyed the equipment cabinet where the batteries were installed.

The recovered batteries, valued at approximately P117,000, were turned over to authorities, along with the arrested individuals.

Appropriate charges are being readied against the arrested suspects.
