THE City of Manila will officially designate August 4 as “Carlos Yulo Day” to celebrate the day the Olympic star won his first gold medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
According to Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna-Pangan, the City Council is preparing a resolution for the occasion, with plans to hold a special program at Manila City Hall on August 19.
The mayor said Yulo will receive awards and a cash incentive of P2 million during the event.
“Carlos Yulo has brought great pride to our city, and we are excited to honor his achievements,” said Mayor Lacuna-Pangan.
Meanwhile, Olympic pole vaulter EJ Obiena, another Manileño achiever, will also be recognized with a P500,000 cash incentive, which will be presented before he leaves for an overseas trip on Thursday.
