PRESIDENT Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. on Wednesday said that all government personnel who assisted the dismissed Bamban, Tarlac mayor Alice Guo in escaping will be axed and jailed.
“All those who are implicated in … assisting Alice Guo to leave the Philippines illegally as a fugitive from justice will certainly pay the price,” President Marcos told reporters on the sidelines of the situation briefing on the effects of severe tropical storm “Enteng” in Quezon City.
“Hindi lang namin sila sisibakin, kakasuhan pa namin sila dahil ang kanilang ginawa ay labag sa batas at against all the interests of the Philippine judicial system,” he added.
President Marcos said the government is now working closely with Indonesia for the immediate return of Guo to the Philippines.
Guo fled a few weeks ago and went into hiding in Indonesia amid the investigation into her involvement in illegal Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGO) activities in the country.
Guo reportedly first headed to Malaysia, arrived in Singapore on July 21, and traveled to Indonesia on August 18, despite being the subject of a lookout bulletin issued by the Bureau of Immigration (BI).
President Marcos earlier declared that “heads will roll” for government personnel who aided Guo in her escape.Authorities said Guo was arrested in Tangerang City, Jakarta, Indonesia, Wednesday, Sept. 4.
