A STABBING incident inside the New Bilibid Prison (NBP) in Muntinlupa City on Thursday left one person deprived of liberty (PDL) dead and two others wounded.
According to the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor), the stabbing occurred around 7:15 a.m. Thursday at Gate 1-A of Quadrant 4 of the Maximum Security Camp of the NBP.
The BuCor, which manages the national penitentiary, withheld the names of those involved until the families had been informed.
“This approach emphasizes the Bureau’s commitment to maintaining dignity and respect for the families of the PDLs affected by this unfortunate event,” it said.
Due to the incident, the superintendents of all operating prisons and penal farms (OPPFs) have been instructed “to take precautionary measures to ensure that no retaliation will transpire at their respective jurisdictions following the stabbing incident at the Bilibid.
“To prevent any untoward incident while the incident is being investigated, the Bucor Headquarters directed all superintendents of operating and prison farms to take precautionary measure at their respective OPPFs to ensure the safety of both PDLs and staff,” the BuCor, in a statement, said.
