OPERATIVES of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) on Friday arrested a 51-year-old man for illegal possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition in Bgy. Matadero, Cabanatuan City, Nueva Ecija.
CIDG Region 3 chief Col. Grant Gollod said arrested was alias “Lastas,” of Bgy. Matadero, Cabanatuan City.
“Lastas” was arrested by joint elements of the CIDG Nueva Ecija Provincial Field Unit (PFU), together with personnel from the 21st Special Action Company (SAC), 2nd Special Action Battalion (SAB) of the PNP Special Action Force (SAF), and the Cabanatuan City Police Station (CPS).
Authorities who served the search warrant issued by the Regional Trial Court Branch 26, Third Judicial Region, Cabanatuan City seized one cal. .45 pistol, a magazine assembly for cal.45, the gun and a pouch bag.
Gollod said the suspect was brought to the CIDG Nueva Ecija PFU office for booking and documentation and will be charged with violation of RA 10591 also known as the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
The official reiterated that the CIDG remains steadfast in its campaign against illegal firearms through “Oplan Paglalansag Omega,” which aims to reduce armed criminals and promote public safety across the region.
