FIVE people, including an 11-month-old baby, on Sunday (August 2) died in a fire that razed a two-storey apartment building in Bgy. 8, Caloocan City.
The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) said that the fatalities were three females and two males, including a mother and her child.
The victims were trapped inside the burning apartment.
According to the BFP, the fire broke out at around 1:01 a.m. on Sunday on the building along Sinilyasi Street in the Dagat-Dagatan area.
Initial investigation showed the fire likely started on the ground floor, where an auto repair shop was located, before spreading to the upper level of the structure.
The fire was declared out at 2:04 a.m. of the same day.
An investigation is ongoing on what started the blaze and the amount of fire damage.
