SOME 450 persons deprived of liberty (PDL) from New Bilibid Prison in Muntinlupa City and the Correctional Institution for Women (CIW) in Mandaluyong City were relocated to the Iwahig Prison and Penal Farm (IPPF) in Puerto Princesa City, Palawan.
Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) chief Gregorio Catapang Jr. said the transfer was part of the Bureau’s ongoing efforts to gradually reduce the PDL population in NBP and CIW.
The BuCor, in a statement said, the IPPF is committed to providing quality reformation programs for the transferred PDL to support their positive transformation as individuals.
BuCor has assured the local community that this transfer will not pose any harm or risk, emphasizing IPPF’s dedication to maintaining a high level of security to ensure public peace and order.
The proper procedures, including PDL accounting and inspection, were meticulously carried out for the 400 male PDL and 50 female PDL upon their arrival at their respective prison camps.
The IPPF Medical Team also conducted thorough medical check-ups for each PDL to monitor their current health status and maintain individual medical records.
